Diabetes an Epidemic among Mississippi Youth

New Patient Day Feb 15: $25 Exam, Proceeds to Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi!

Mississippi may lead the nation and the world in adult obesity, with an estimated 65% of Mississippians either overweight or obese, according to sources including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Similarly, there is literally an epidemic of Type II diabetes in youth in Mississippi in just a generation.

The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is a non-profit organization that engages in a variety of activities that promote education, diagnosis, and research of this disease. From hospital visits to newly diagnosed children and their families, parent to parent support groups, camps for kids with diabetes, free accredited programs for schools and daycare centers, professional education for physicians and other healthcare professionals, to Helping Hands, a free emergency assistance program to those in need, this foundation uses money raised in Mississippi to help Mississippians in need. For example, Helping Hands provided over $100,000 in testing supplies, medications and other diabetes-related supplies to Hurricane Katrina victims alone.

This year we are proud to announce that 100% of the proceeds of our Annual Patient Appreciation Day will be donated to the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. Your family and friends with spine, joint or stress syndrome disorders who have yet to try chiropractic can take advantage of this offer by scheduling an appointment for our New Patient Appreciation Day to be held this coming Monday February 15th. Their cost is only $25 for a new patient examination (see details below), proceeds will be donated to the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, and we’ll provide a complimentary cervical pillow to you for having referred your family and friends to our office!

Chiropractic adjustments help reduce neck pain, migraine, neck tension headaches, and back pain; in addition preliminary research shows that adjustments may even significantly lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. If confirmed by further studies, chiropractic patients may be reducing their stress when they receive regular adjustments (see newsletters at www.drleach.com for links to these studies). Further, chiropractors advocate the same healthy lifestyle modifications endorsed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, to prevent, control, or improve Type II Diabetes.

Help your friends—and help Mississippians with Diabetes—this Valentine’s Day
